Senate Majority Leader Joe Pittman believes that there is a good chance that a budget will be in place by the start of the fiscal year on July 1st, but the road to get there is still lengthy.
Speaking to the Pennsylvania Press Club yesterday, Pittman called Governor Josh Shapiro’s budget “fairly reasonable” but he expects that many members of the Senate Republican Caucus are concerned with how much spending is involved and the exhaustion of the state’s budget surplus.
One of the things that the Senator agreed with is the need to get state police funding out of the motor license fund.
Pittman says that he is “hopeful” that a “sensible spending plan” will be ready for June 30th, but the Senate Republican Caucus will do whatever it takes and are willing to work beyond the deadline to make sure that the budget is a responsible one for the state’s citizens.
