Tonight is IUP’s Take Back the Night event on campus.
The event, running from 6-9 PM, is designed to raise awareness and support for survivors of sexual violence, domestic and dating violence and stalking. It’s also meant to show victims that IUP is a unified community dedicated to ending sexual violence and supporting survivors and victims.
The event is organized by the Haven Project, which supports survivors and victims by providing confidential counseling and information on resources, accommodations and reporting options, and educates the campus community with events and awareness campaigns. The group works with Alice Paul House, area police departments and the IUP Counseling Center.
Events start in the Oak Grove, with the Take Back the Night march starting at 7:00 to go through campus. A survivors support reception and speak out event will be held at 7:30 in the Ohio Room at the HUB. The event is free and is open to everyone.
