The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement that is in effect until later this evening.
Due to a combination of dry and windy conditions this afternoon, there is an elevated risk of wildfire across the western portion of Pennsylvania, which includes Indiana County.
Officials urge residents to exercise caution if handling any potential ignition sources, like machinery, cigarettes, or matches, as if dry grasses and litter begin to burn, it could spread quickly.
The region could see wind gusts between 15 to 25 miles per hour, along with minimum relative humidity values ranging from 15 to 25 percent.
The advisory will end at 8 p.m. Stay tuned to Your Hometown Radio Stations for up-to-date Accuweather forecasts.
