The Haven Project at IUP is getting ready for its upcoming “Take Back the Night” event.
The annual event is designed to raise awareness and support survivors of sexual violence, domestic and dating violence, and stalking. It’s also intended to show those impacted by sexual violence that the university is a unified community dedicated to ending sexual violence and supporting survivors and victims. This year’s theme is “Shatter the Silence”
The Haven Project assists students who have experienced these issues, collaborating with area police departments, the IUP Counseling Center, and the Alice Paul House. The Haven Project also works closely with the university’s Social Equity and Title IX Office to address sexual harassment, sexual violence, retaliation, and other prohibited sexual misconduct.
The event is set for April 12 runs from 6-9 PM starting at the Oak Grove. At 7:00, there will be a march through the campus, and there will be a survivor’s support reception and speak out event at 7:30 in the Ohio Room at the Hub. The event is open to the public.
