The River Valley School District has announced the reduction of the budget of the new stadium project.
In a news release, the district said that the reduction is in response to changing economic factors and student needs. In the long run, the district looks to save money in order to reinvest that money into the classroom. Since the project started in November of 2021, enrollment has increased three percent and there has also been an increase in demand for workforce development programs. The district also cites the rise in construction costs and current economic conditions as reasons for the reduction in the project’s budget.
The savings will be seen in modified plans for the stadium’s fieldhouse. The revised plan will accommodate locker rooms for both the Panthers and visiting teams, while plans to build the field, bleachers, track and concession stand remain unchanged.
River Valley School Board President Rick Harper and district superintendent Phillip Martel will join Todd Marino on Indiana in the Morning after the 9:00 News on WCCS.
