An Indiana man is due in district court today for a preliminary hearing on charges of child endangerment.
Court documents show that 47-year-old William Jefferson will go before District Judge Guy Haberl at 10:15 this morning. He is charged with three felony counts and one misdemeanor count of a parent endangering the welfare of children. Borough police charged Jefferson in an incident on February 25th when police were summoned to a home in the 300 block of North 10th Street for a welfare check. Officers found four juveniles in the house, but no one was taking care of them. Police later discovered that Jefferson was their guardian. No reason was given as to why he left the children alone.
Also due for a preliminary hearing today is Keyonna Cooley of Philadelphia, who is charged with possession of marijuana and of drug paraphernalia for an incident on February 17 of this year. And James Edwards of New Kensington will also be in court today for charges of disorderly conduct and harassment for an incident on November 19th of last year.
