Today, two teams from Indiana County will have a chance of winning a state basketball championship.
The Homer-Center and River Valley girls basketball teams are in Hershey today as they will play in the state championships at the Giant Center. The Wildcats from Homer-Center will take on Kennedy Catholic from Hermitage in the early session for the double-A title, while the River Valley Panthers will take on Dunmore out of Lackawana County for the triple-A championship.
To give the communities a chance to attend the games, Homer-Center has cancelled classes for students today. Homer-Center is also sending a student bus to Herhsey. Those wanting to go on the bus are reminded that the bus will load at 7:30 and will leave after it is loaded. The bus will return home around 5:30 today.
Meanwhile, River Valley school district will let school out early today for the same reason. High School and Middle School Students will be dismissed at 11:00, with elementary grades dismissed at noon and pre-K classes dismissed at 12:15. Their student bus will leave at 1:30 and will arrive home around midnight.
Of course, you can hear the games today on your hometown radio stations and their respective websites. The Homer-Center/Kennedy Catholic game will be heard on WCCS 101.1 FM, AM 1160 and WCCSRadio.com starting at 11:00 with the pre-game show. The River Valley/Dunmore match will be heard starting at 5:00 PM with the pre-game show on Cat Country 106.3 FM and CatCountry1063FM.com.
Both games will also be heard on the TribLIVE High School Sports Network.
