A former Indiana School District Educator and IUP Sports Hall of Famer has passed away.
Thomas E. Campisano died on Friday, March 10th. A native of Indiana, he entered the U.S. Army after graduating from Indiana High School in 1953 and became an expert marksman with a rifle. He would later attend IUP and compete in varsity rifle events, and coached the team while he was a student, guiding them to an Allegheny Intercollegiate Rifle League championship.
Campisano would spend a year teaching at Westmont High School in Johnstown before going to Indiana Junior High School, where he would teach Art for 31 years before retiring in 1998. During that time, he continued to coach the IUP rifle team until 2017, and served as an assistant coach for the Indiana High Rifle Team.
