The month of March has become a busy one in Indiana County with several events on tap, and that is expected to bring a lot of money into the county.
This weekend will be the start of several events that are planned for our area, as IUP will host the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Tournament at the KCAC. Not only is that expected to bring in the players and coaches from across the region, but their fans as well. Another sporting event is planned for next weekend at the KCAC with the Keystone State Wrestling Tournament, followed by the Armstrong-Indiana Builders Association Home Show and the PA State Taxidermy & Wildlife Art Competition Outdoor Sportsman Show will be held the weekend after the home show.
Laura Herrington of the Indiana County Tourist Bureau said that while it is just an estimate at this time, she believes that the financial impact on the county will be big.
While it’s not known at this time how many people will come to Indiana for the basketball tournament, it was initially estimated that about 10,000 people are expected to visit the county during the Keystone State Wrestling Tournament.
Herrington is asking businesses to be welcoming to the visitors coming to our area for these events, and the tourist bureau website will be posting pertinent information for visitors.
