Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro will address a joint session of the PA House and Senate to present his first budget today.
Reports say that Shapiro is expected to emphasize funding for Pennsylvania’s poorest school districts. This comes on the heels of a decision by Commonwealth Court that the current funding system falls short of doing that and and violates students’ constitutional rights.
Another expected major point of Shapiro’s budget will be a projected cut of the corporate net income tax by more than half by 2025. That move is expected to attract businesses to the state and save businesses billions of dollars.
The budget address is expected to start at 11:30 this morning.
