Both the Penns Manor School District and the union representing its teachers returned to the bargaining table on Friday, the fifth day of a teacher’s strike.
According to a brief statement from the district, both sides met from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM for negotiations. The district said that the union requested the adjournment to review data, with a negotiation session scheduled for next Tuesday, March 7th.
In a statement, the Penns Manor Education Association claims that talks failed to produce an agreement, with the proposals submitted by the district “still asking teachers to pay more, and to get less.” The statement said that the teachers are looking to maintain the level of benefits that are currently available.
Teachers will return to the Picket lines on Monday. The district has already announced the cancellation of classes for both March 6th and 7th.
