The Penns Manor teacher strike enters day five, but there will be a meeting of both sides today.
District officials announced that both sides will return to the bargaining table this morning along with a state-mandated mediator at 10:00. Major sticking points in the negotiation of a new contract have included keeping spouses of teachers that work for other districts on the health insurance programs and a recent suggestion by the teachers’ union to reduce compensation for supplemental positions by 25 percent and freeze those wages for the duration of the contract.
As the strike continues today, classes are once again cancelled throughout the district. This is a developing story and as soon as we have more information, we will pass it along to you.
