One person was hurt as a car collided with a horse and buggy in South Mahoning Township on Tuesday.
State police say that the crash was reported at 12:08 PM on Route 210 east of Gas Road. Police say that a Hyundai Elantra driven by 26-year-old Ian Panoletti of Wexford was going north behind a horse and buggy driven by 65-year-old Ada Miller of Smicksburg when Panoletti started to fall asleep behind the wheel. The car hit the rear of the buggy, causing the buggy to spin out, go off the roadway and down an embankment before the buggy landed on its side. The horse was not injured, neither was Panoletti, but Miller had suspected minor injuries and was taken to ACMH for treatment. Panoletti’s car needed to be towed.
Panoletti was cited for speeding.
