Before the Indiana Borough Council Work Session got underway, a new council member was sworn in.
Jessica Frick was sworn in at the start of the meeting as the new member of council. She takes over for Justin Warnock, who represented the former 4th Ward. He resigned due to medical concerns. Frick has lived in Indiana for over 9 years.
In other business, the board got an update on the review of the comprehensive plan. Joshua Kratza said that they are continuing to work on its review, which has gone for several months. He said that review is mostly done, but it is being brought back under review.
He expects the review to wrap up by summer.
Finally, it was announced that Indiana Borough Police officer Hunter Scherf resigned his position with the department. Hunter is the son of former Chief Detective John Scherf, who recently lodged several complaints against Chief Justin Schawl. Schawl said Hunter’s resignation was “succinct”, and could offer no further information on why he resigned.
