The former Public Works Director for Indiana Borough was hired by Blairsville Borough Council last night to the same position.
On Tuesday night, Blairsville Borough Council hired Dave Fairman to be the new public works director. He had served as the Indiana Public Works Director for 18 years before resigning in 2021. Fairman said he didn’t want his public works knowledge to go to waste.
Fairman’s starting salary with Blairsville Borough Council will be $60,000 a year.
In other business, Councilman Ab Dettorre said that they were getting close to hiring a new borough manager to replace the now-retired Mike Baker. He said that the list of candidates is now down to a “short list” and the new manager could be hired at next month’s meeting.
Borough Council was also notified of the dates of two events later this year. Those are the annual Knotweed Festival on August 12th. The other event was the Paddling Picnic on June 10th on the Conemaugh that traditionally ends with a picnic in Blairsville.
