This weekend was rather uneventful for Indiana County first responders as five incidents were reported.
The first brush fire of the year kicked off calls on Saturday as Indiana Fire Association was dispatched to the 1000 block of Old Route 56 in Armstrong Township around 11:30 a.m., but crews were canceled shortly after the initial call went out.
Two carbon monoxide alarms headlined the remaining calls on Saturday. Coal Run/McIntyre fire departments were summoned to Saltsburg Road in Young Township around 3 p.m. No information is available on that call.
The second alarm sent Indiana crews to the 200 block of School Street in Indiana Borough around 11:34 p.m. Officials said in a Facebook post that a caller reported no symptoms to 911, but indicated that they recently changed batteries in their detector but it was still beeping. Crews arrived and found no carbon monoxide in the home. They also discovered the detector was 10 years old.
Another brush fire was reported around 3:54 Sunday afternoon, and it sent Indiana fire crews to a location along South 6th Street in White Township. No information is available at this time.
Four minutes later, Homer City and Aultman fire departments, Citizens’ Ambulance and state police were summoned to a vehicle accident along Route 286 West near Hometown Auto in Center Township.
Initial scanner reports say a vehicle hit a tree and both lanes were shut down for a period of time. Details on injuries are not available at this time.
