Punxsutawney Phil earlier this morning made his prediction for the next few weeks at the annual Groundhog Day celebration on Gobbler’s Knob. The announcement made by Dan McGinley, vice president of the Groundhog Club Inner Circle.
On hand for the festivities this morning was Pennsylvania’s new Governor, Josh Shapiro. He said that while Phil is the reason why everyone’s here, there was another reason why he was there.
This year marks the 136th celebration of Groundhog Day in Punxsutawney. While there are 11 years where Groundhog Day Records were not kept, Phil has seen his shadow 107 times as to predict six more weeks of winter as of this morning, while on 19 occasions, Phil has not seen his shadow and predicted an early spring.
