Expect Route 119 into Jefferson County to be busy this morning as people from across the United States and around the world will make their way to Punxsutawney for the annual Groundhog Day celebration put on by the Groundhog Club Inner Circle.
This year marks the 136th celebration of Groundhog Day in Punxsutawney. While there are 11 years where Groundhog Day Records were not kept, Phil has seen his shadow 106 times to predict six more weeks of winter, while on 19 occasions, Phil has predicted an early spring.
Crowds are expected to be lower this year as the celebration falls in the middle of the week, but attendance is expected to be in the thousands. The prediction is expected around 7:30 this morning.
