A man from Ohio was arrested Thursday morning following a chase in White Township.
Troopers say at 11:25 a.m., a member from the Troop A barracks initiated a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Aveo near Route 286 and Stonebreaker Road as the driver, identified only as a 34-year-old man from Toledo, had a warrant out for his arrest in Ohio.
The trooper alerted the man of his outstanding warrant and, as he went to his patrol car to inquire about extradition, the man fled east along 286, initiating a chase that passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed.
The chase continued onto Allen Bridge Road, Airport Road and Hood School Road, sometimes exceeding up to 80 miles per hour. It ended at approximately 11:36 a.m. after the driver turned into the entrance of the Indiana County Jail, at which point troopers executed a PIT Maneuver at the bottom of the driveway.
The driver was arrested and charges are pending. Troopers also believe the man was under the influence of marijuana.
The investigation is ongoing.
