Attendance yesterday on the first day at the State Farm Show was hard to measure but appeared to be up, even if the best true measure was the crowded parking lots.
Official attendance numbers have not been released yet, but the main parking lot and some of the auxiliary lots were full, which was a marked contrast to last year, when people were still cautious about attending a live event due as the pandemic was easing. State Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding was pleased and the Ag Department said it appeared to be more like pre-pandemic crowds, but some of the vendors were convinced that attendance was down from last year, due to inflation. One problem area was the parking payment system, which is all cashless this year and caused some difficulties for people who weren’t used to it.
The Farm Show runs through next Saturday.
