The ongoing negotiations between the teachers union and the School board were a topic of discussion at Wednesday night’s Penns Manor School board meeting.
Some members of the public spoke out in favor of the teachers and the students during public comment. Chad Kuzemchak said that the board had to find the solution that would be fair to them and fair to the teachers.
In response, board president Robert Packer that they are in agreement with that sentiment but must also be fair to the students as well. He also said that negotiations would not take place in public.
The next negotiation session is scheduled for January 9th.
In other business, the board approved stipend increases for sports officials ranging from 5 to 10 dollars. Superintendent Daren Johnston said the costs for each official are per game instead of hourly rates and brings them more in line with rates being provided by other school districts.
