A Saltsburg man was sentenced today for sexually assaulting a minor.
According to a news release from district attorney Robert Manzi, Judge Michael Clarke sentenced 54-year-old Michael Stiles to serve between 6 and 1/2 and 17 years in State prison and three years of probation after his release. In April of 2022 the victim reported to State Police that Stiles sexually assaulted them on several occasions for a period of about 10 months prior to the victim reporting it to police. State Police conducted a consensual phone call with Stiles and during the call, he confessed to the victim’s claims. As part of his sentence, Stiles must register as a Megan’s Law offender for the rest of his life.
In a statement, Manzi commented on the bravery of the victim and their family, saying that he applauded the way they pulled together to support each other while they confronted the defendant. He also congratulated the state police on their investigation, saying that they were quick to act on the charges and were able to obtain the evidence needed to gain a conviction.
