Many Indiana County residents are dealing with power outages after this morning’s rainstorms. Fortunately, those dealing with said outages might not have to wait long.
Indiana County 911 reported utility lines down in Pine, Green and West Wheatfield Townships between noon and 12:30. Green Township residents are experiencing the most issues, according to Penelec, as 242 customers are without power at this time.
In addition, 50 customers in Rayne Township are without power, as are 19 customers in Armstrong Township, 16 customers in Saltsburg Borough, and 11 customers in Cherryhill Township. Less than five customers are affected in South Mahoning Township, as well as Clymer and Shelocta Boroughs.
Penelec expects power to be restored to those areas between 2:00 and 2:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, Stacy Hilliard with REA Energy reports that 2,164 customers are without power with 742 of those customers stemming from Indiana County. The remaining 1,422 customers affected live in Cambria County.
REA crews are working to restore power to the affected areas. Their outage map shows restoration is expected between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m.
