While most people were enjoying Thanksgiving dinner, first responders stayed busy with three calls made to Indiana County 911 yesterday.
The first call was a reported brush fire along Coal Run Road in Young Township around 1:30 p.m. No information is available currently on the fire. This marks the 71st brush fire in Indiana County this year.
Indiana Fire Association would be dispatched for the other two calls yesterday. The first call was a transformer fire that happened along North 4th St. in Indiana Borough around 2:34 p.m. Fire officials say the fire was caused by a squirrel who they say, “made poor decisions.” Penelec was on scene when fire crews arrived and solved the issue quickly.
Indiana Fire Association companies two and three were called out for an automatic fire alarm activation along Indian Springs Road in White Township around 4:11 p.m. Officials say it was a false alarm, as a drop in water pressure triggered the alarm. Crews checked the building and nothing was found. They were cleared to leave within 20 minutes.
