First responders had a busy day on Tuesday as they dealt with nine vehicle crashes during the first significant snowstorm of the season.
Accidents were reported between 2:00 PM and 4:29 PM, with accidents happening in Banks, East Wheatfield, Pine, North Mahoning, South Mahoning, Brush Valley, Grant and White Townships. This includes a string of four accidents that happened in a 15-minute time span between 3:30 and 3:45.
Crews from the Big Run, Armagh, Clyde, Pine Township, Nicktown, Plumville, Perry Township, Brush Valley, Homer City, Marion Center, Commodore, and Indiana fire departments were dispatched, and State Police and Citizen’s Ambulance were also called out for some of those calls.
Along with all the vehicle accidents yesterday, first responders had to deal with other incidents.
One of those was a report utility lines down on Route 22 East in Burrell Township with Blairsville and Black Lick fire fighters called out at 4:29 PM.
Armagh and East Wheatfield fire crews were called out at 6:50 PM for a pumping detail request on East Philadelphia Street Extension in East Wheatfield Township. Iselin-West Lebanon fire crews were dispatched for a reported structure fire on Girty Road in Westmoreland County to help with a structure fire call at 9:54 PM.
And early this morning, Blairsville and Black Lick fire departments were called out for a vehicle fire on Route 22 West in Burrell Township at 4:34 AM. Firefighters said there was no fire, and nothing was found after they checked the car’s Thermal Imaging Camera.
