The Indiana County Commissioners approved advertising the proposed 2023 budget during their meeting this morning, and for county citizens, there will be no increase in property taxes.
Total expenditures come to $48,909,208 with revenues coming to $43,485,968. To fill the gap, the county will use the money left over from 2022. The budget’s opening balance at 2023 will be $5,423,240. Commissioners Chairman Mike Keith said that there were a lot of changes made in 2022 to make sure the 2023 budget would come out balanced with no tax increases and no cuts in services.
The budget will be available for examination and will be approved at the Commissioners meeting on December 21st.
In other business, the Commissioners tabled awarding contracts for internet service that would go to un-served and under served areas of the county. Byron Stauffer of the Office of Planning and Development said that six proposals came in and there was a lot of material to go through.
The commissioners will see a final recommendation at the next Commissioners meeting.

Finally, the Commissioners proclaimed tomorrow as Children’s Grief Awareness Day. Accepting the proclamation were volunteers and officials with Hopeful Hearts.
