The District 6 football playoffs resumed last night with semifinal games in Class AA. Fourth-seeded Bishop Guilfoyle upset undefeated top seed Richland, 32-22, and will face second-seeded Penns Valley, a 34-14 winner over Bald Eagle Area.
In the Class 6A final, State College stopped Altoona, 28-7.
The Class A semifinals are rescheduled for tomorrow night, with four Heritage Conference teams involved. On 92.5 FM U92, conference champion and district top seed Penns Manor will take on visiting number five seed Portage. The two teams met on October 7th with Penns Manor winning, 55-28, but both teams have suffered some key injuries since.
Comets coach Bill Packer knows his team is in for a battle.
The Mustangs’ Marty Slanoc’s team has spent a lot of time on the road this season and he says Penns Manor is another road challenge.
At Northern Cambria, the second-seeded Colts will face third seed Cambria Heights, in a rematch of the Coal Bowl, which Northern Cambria won in week one of the season.
Northern Cambria coach Sam Shutty says the Highlanders’ dynamic duo of Ty Stockley and Tanner Trybus will put pressure on his defense.

The Homer-Center football banquet was held last night at the Penn Run Christian Outreach Center. The Wildcats played and lost to all of the teams involved in the Class A semis.

In District 5, Windber handed Northern Bedford County its first loss of the season, 14-0, to give the Ramblers the Class A district title.
In the combined District 5/8 Class AA championship game, Westinghouse blasted previously unbeaten and Appalachian Bowl champion Berlin-Brothersvalley, 59-7, as quarterback Keyshawn Morsillo accounted for 448 yards of total offense and five touchdowns.
