State Senator Joe Pittman and State Representative Jim Struzzi have jointly announced that another Indiana County entity will receive Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program Grant money.
According to a joint news release, $1 million in RACP money was awarded to the Jimmy Stewart Airport. The money from this round will go towards the ongoing corporate hangar project. The hangar will house three to five aircraft, depending on the size of the final hangar, which is now proposed at 12,000 square feet. This goes with money in the 2020 cycle and money awarded last spring to bring the total funding for the airport up to $1.75 million over the last three years. $750,000 of that was used for the development of a charter service hangar.
Struzzi said that the airport has great potential to “attract more business, tourism and jobs to our area.” Pittman said that the investments continue to “increase the airport’s role in boosting the local economy.”
Yesterday, Struzzi and Pittman announced that $3.5 million in RACP funding will come to Indiana and Armstrong counties, with $2 million going to the YMCA of Indiana County and the rest being split between three entities in Armstrong County.
