The national average cost of a gallon of gas has had a turbulent week, with it going up at the start of the week, then coming down at the end of it.
Triple-A reports this morning that the national average this morning is $3.90 a gallon, a penny lower than yesterday, but a penny higher than last week, and 20 cents higher than last month. This marks the third day that prices have gone down after spiking slightly this past week. Gas demand nationally has decreased from 9.47 million barrels a day to 8.28 million barrels, while total domestic gasoline stocks increased by two million barrels to 209.5 million. Crude oil prices have also been fluctuating recently. Experts say that if demand continues to drop and if prices start to slide, gas prices could go down as soon as this weekend.
While the national average has gone down, Pennsylvania’s average has gone up. It jumped a penny over the last 24 hours to $3.94 a gallon. It’s ten cents higher than last week, but only four cents higher than where it was last month.
Indiana County’s average this morning is $3.97 a gallon. While it is among the lowest, it’s not the lowest in the region. That is in Jefferson County, with a $3.90 average. Cambria is just above Indiana at $3.98 a gallon. Westmoreland, Clearfield and Armstrong Counties have $3.99 a gallon averages this morning.
Gas prices in Indiana area are around $3.95-$3.99 a gallon this morning, while prices in Homer City, Clymer and Blairsville this morning are $3.99 a gallon, according to gasbuddy.com
