Drivers across Pennsylvania are seeing continued increases in gas prices, but the national average held steady over the last 24 hours.
The national average gas price this morning in $3.92 a gallon, according to Triple-A. This marks no change over the last day but an increase of nine cents over the last week and 21 cents over the past month. Last year at this time, the national gas price average was $3.28 a gallon. Pennsylvania’s average gas price is $3.93 a gallon, up two cents from yesterday and 16 cents over the past week.
Experts say the continued increase in gas prices can be attributed to increased demand, which went up from 8.83 million barrels to 9.47 million barrels over the last week. Total domestic gas stocks went down significantly to 207.5 million barrels. Crude oil prices also decreased by $4.19 to $92.64, a difference of 56 cents.
Indiana County joins in with multiple counties on the western side of the state with high gas price averages. Today, the county’s average gas price is $3.97 a gallon, while neighboring Cambria and Clearfield counties have averages of $3.98. Clarion and Westmoreland counties follow with $3.99 averages. Armstrong County has the highest average in the region with an even $4 a gallon, while Jefferson County has the lowest at $3.88.
