IUP head coach Paul Tortorella commended his team’s ability to fight back in Saturday’s win over Cal U on Monday’s edition of Hawk Talk, but he emphasized that the team needs to capitalize on opportunities more both on offense and defense.
The Crimson Hawks trailed throughout the majority of Saturday’s Coal Bowl but earned their first lead with a little over one minute remaining. Cal U quickly moved down the field in the final minute and got into field goal range, but a costly penalty ran off the final 10 seconds and gave IUP the win.
Tortorella said that his team found ways to win, but they need to capitalize more on opportunities throughout the game.
With the Coal Bowl behind them, IUP turns its attention to the Edinboro Fightin’ Scots for a road matchup this Saturday.
Tortorella says the team needs to have a good week of practice if they want to come out on top against the Scots.
You can hear Saturday’s game on U92.5 FM and at U92radio.com starting at 11:30 a.m.
