In advance of their season open this week, the Penguins continued to make roster adjustments on Sunday by re-assigning defensemen Mark Friedman and Ty Smith to Wilkes-Barre Scranton.
The 26-year-old Friedman scored one goal, four assists and five points in a career-high 26 games for the Penguins last season after they claimed him off waiver from Philadelphia in February. He also added one goal in six playoff games.
Smith appeared in 66 games last year with the New Jersey Devils and recorded five goals, 15 assists and 20 points.
The Penguins open their season on Thursday against Arizona.
