Members of the public turned out for the White Township Supervisors Meeting Wednesday night to talk about safety issues with proposed bowhunting in White’s Woods.

Many were concerned that their concerns over safety for hikers when hunters are in the woods, and when exactly the season would start. Signs had started to go up around White’s Woods that hunting in the woods would start on October 1st. Recreation Director Ryan Shaffer talked about why they went with that date.
However, many in the audience felt that it was not communicated by the township recreation officials and that more time was needed to discuss safety issues.
As the date for the start of bowhunting season in White’s Woods was not officially approved by the supervisors, Shaffer announced after the meeting that bowhunting was postponed indefinitely.
In other business, the township announced the leaf pickup dates for the fall season, with collection starting on October 24th and going every Monday until the Monday before Thanksgiving.
