After seeing national gas price averages go down for 98 straight days, that average went up slightly, while Pennsylvania’s average continues to go down.
The after going up slightly earlier this week, the national average this morning is $3.70 a gallon, up two cents from yesterday, and two cents from last week, but down eighteen cents over the last month. Last year’s national average is $3.18 a gallon.
Fluctuating prices and tight supply for gasoline due to planned and unplanned refinery maintenance were responsible for the slight increase in cost. Demand for gas is still going down from 8.49 million barrels a day to 8.32 million. However, the cost of crude oil continues to drop, and at the close of trading on Friday, it was at $79.43 a barrel.
While the national average is going back up, Pennsylvania’s average continues to trickle down, with an average this morning of $3.81. That’s a penny less than yesterday, five cents down over the last week and 38 cents down from last month.
Indiana County’s average this morning is $3.88, which keeps it on the same level as Cambria County. The lowest average in the region remains in Jefferson County at $3.73. Then it takes a sharp jump to $3.83 in Clearfield County, and $3.85 in Westmoreland County. The highest average is Armstrong County at $3.94. Forest County has the highest county-wide average in the state at $3.99, while Carbon’s average is the lowest in the state at $3.65.
In Indiana, Clymer and Homer City gas prices are $3.89, while Blairsville is four cents cheaper at $3.85, according to Gasbuddy.com
