The steady decrease in gas price averages could be coming to an end soon.
Once again, the national average cost of a gallon of gas held relatively steady at $3.69, going down only a fraction of a cent over the last 24 hours. It’s a four cent drop from last week, a 25-cent drop from last month. According to the Energy Information Administration, gas demand continues to go down, but fluctuating oil prices have led to smaller decreases at the pump. Currently, crude oil prices are $85.79 a barrel, an increase of less than a dollar over the last 24 hours. If crude prices continue to fluctuate, the daily decreases we have seen may come to an end.
Pennsylvania’s average is $3.88 a gallon today. That is a one-cent drop from yesterday, a six-cent drop from last week and a 40-cent drop from last month. Indiana County’s average according to Triple-A is $3.93. The lowest average in our region remains with Jefferson County at $3.83, Clearfield is next highest at $3.89, followed by Westmoreland at $3.90, then Cambria at $3.92 a gallon, then Indiana. Armstrong remains the highest average in the region at $3.99, just under the $4 a gallon mark.
Gas prices in Indiana range from $3.84 to $3.95. Homer City’s prices are hovering at $3.95. Prices in Clymer are between $3.86 and $3.89 a gallon, while prices in Blairsville are at $3.89 a gallon.
