On Wednesday, the Indiana County Health Care Careers Consortium held its 17th annual employee recognition event, and that included a visit from a representative of Governor Wolf’s administration.
James Martini, executive director of the Pennsylvania Workforce Development Board with the Department of Labor and Industry joined those in attendance at Rustic Lodge to honor 22 employees at nursing homes, hospitals and hospice facilities for their hard work over the last year. Martini talked about why it was important to honor these people.
Also honored today was Denise McQuown-Hatter with the consortium’s first ever lifetime achievement award. McQuown-Hatter was a co-founder of the consortium, and is a board member on the Tri-County Workforce Investment Board and the President and CEO of Affinity Health Care. She said afterward she was grateful for the award, but did not forget that the ceremony was meant to honor the front-line workers.
The ICHCCC is a non-profit organization of health service providers, educators and workforce development agencies in the county that recognize healthcare workers who improve and expand their professional skillsets through their everyday work.
