Many people celebrate Labor Day with picnics and other outdoor activities, but those may be scrubbed as rain is expected across the area today and that could cause some flooding.
The National Weather Service has issued an Aerial Flood Watch that will remain in effect through today until 11:00 tonight for Indiana, Westmoreland, Jefferson and other counties. The flood watch notice said that flash flooding by excessive rainfall is possible today. Excessive runoff and slow moving storm systems could result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood prone locations. Creeks and streams may go over their banks and flooding could occur in urban areas and areas where drainage is poor.
People are advised to continue to monitor the situation through weather reports throughout the day in case a Flood Warning is issued.
