After a very busy day on Sunday, Indiana County’s first responders had a relatively mild but active day on Monday into this morning.
Along with the vehicle accident we previously reported on Oakland Avenue at 12:15 that injured one person, a second vehicle accident was reported on North Ben Franklin Road in White Township at 1:35 PM. Indiana Fire Association, State Police and Citizens Ambulance were all dispatched to the top of Marianne Hill at the time. Fire officials said that two vehicles were involved in a T-Bone collision, and they were both rendered un-drivable. Multiple injuries were reported by fire officials, but those injuries were minor.
A third vehicle accident was reported in Burrell Township along Route 22 East at 2:06 this morning. Black Lick and Blairsville fire departments responded to the scene. Black Lick fire officials said on the department’s Facebook page that they found a coal truck stopped short with some damage to the vehicle and a box truck off the roadway and had collided with a Verizon utility pole near Palmerton Road. No injuries were reported, but traffic was restricted in the area as crews worked to clear the scene.
Also over the last 24 hours, there have been two wires-down calls. One was reported along Bowser Road in West Wheatfield Township. That brought out Clyde and the Armagh/East Wheatfield township fire departments at 3:35 PM yesterday. The other was early this morning at 3:56 AM along City Street in Green Township. The Commodore Fire Department was dispatched at the time.
