Gas price averages continue to decline on a national, state and countywide level.
Triple-A reports that the national average cost of a gallon of regular gas remained under the $4 per gallon mark at $3.97 a gallon. This marks a one cent drop over the last 24 hours, but an 11 cent drop since last week and a 66 cent drop since last month. One year ago, the national average gas price hovered around $3.19 a gallon. Lack of consumer demand remains the reason for the decline in gas prices, as experts say demand remains at 8.54 million barrels a day. The cost of crude oil, however, increased by $1.43 following Wednesday’s trading session and now stands at $91.93.
Pennsylvania’s average also decreased slightly to $4.30 a gallon, marking a one cent drop over the last 24 hours, a 10 cent drop over the last week and a 46 cent drop over the last month. This is still a strong leap from one year ago, when prices were $3.29 a gallon.
Indiana County’s average gas price is $4.29 a gallon, marking one of the lowest averages in the region. Jefferson and Westmoreland counties are tied for the lowest average in the region at $4.26 a gallon, followed by Indiana and Cambria counties. Clearfield County is next at $4.30 a gallon, and Armstrong County has the highest in the region at $4.31.
Gasbuddy.com reports gas price averages in Indiana County range from $4.24 to $4.51 a gallon, with Indiana, Blairsville, Clymer and Homer City’s gas price average hovering around $4.26 a gallon.
