Gas price averages continue to drop, and for the national average, it’s getting close to going under $4 a gallon.
Triple-A reported another drop of two cents over the last 24 hours in the national average to $4.01 a gallon. It’s a 15-cent drop from last week, and a 67-cent drop from last month. The lack of consumer demand has been the main force behind the price decline, as experts say demand dropped 710,000 barrels a day to 8.54 million barrels a day last week. The cost of crude oil has also gone down below the $90 per barrel level to $89.22.
Pennsylvania’s average is still declining as well, with the price now at $4.33 a gallon. It’s a two-cent drop from yesterday, a 12-cent drop from last week and a 46-cent drop over the last month. Indiana County’s average is $4.31, tying it with Jefferson, Cambria and Clearfield Counties. The lowest average is Westmoreland at $4.30, with the highest in the region in Armstrong County at $4.36.
Perry County has the lowest average at $4.13, while Potter County has the highest at $4.55.
