IUP announced yesterday that a May graduate of its early childhood and special education program was selected for a teaching scholarship opportunity overseas.
The university announced that Teresa Kuo has been selected for the 2022-23 Fulbright English Teaching Assistant award that offers an experience to teach in Taiwan. As a Fulbright recipient, Kuo will work with elementary and middle school students on the island of Penghu.
During the spring semester in 2021, Kuo completed her special education field experience at Hempfield Area High School in Greensburg by teaching high school students on the autism spectrum.
IUP said Kuo will leave for Taiwan today and will undergo a month-long training period before starting the 10-month teaching period in September.
