Two vehicle accidents were reported this morning to Indiana County 911.
The first happened along Airport Road in Cherryhill Township just before 9 o’clock. Clymer fire crews were initially dispatched along with Citizens’ Ambulance and state police. Indiana fire crews were called into assist five minutes later.
Clymer assistant fire chief Haley Mumau said the vehicle slid off an embankment on the road. The driver was not trapped in the car nor were they injured. Crews were on scene for 40 minutes tending to the scene
The second crash happened at 9:03 a.m. along Pine Hollow Road in Washington Township. Creekside and Plumville fire crews were dispatched along with Citizens’ Ambulance.
Creekside Fire Department Assistant Chief Cody Hitchings reported that the victim, who was not identified, was driving a farm tractor on his property on Pine Hollow Road and using a brush hogger when the tractor hit a tree and overturned, pinning the driver underneath the tractor. When Indiana County 911 made the initial dispatch call, it was also heard by Washington Township officials, who sent a township backhoe to the scene to help lift the tractor. Hitchings said that the backhoe saved about ten to fifteen minutes of extrication time.
The victim was flown from the scene to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown for treatment.
