After the Mega Millions jackpot was claimed this past weekend, officials from the Pennsylvania Lottery are letting all players know that help is available for those who suffer from gambling problems.
Gambling addiction is when a player loses control and gambles compulsively without considering the negative consequences that may arise from it. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board says that approximately two to three percent of the U.S. adult population suffers from gambling addiction.
PA Lottery spokesperson Ewa Swope says that the Lottery constantly promotes responsible gambling.
Anyone suffering from compulsive gambling problems can call 1-800-GAMBLER for help. The PA Lottery also reminds residents that players must be 18 years or older to play.
