The American Red Cross in Indiana is urgently seeking donors for some upcoming blood drives for the remainder of the month.
Officials at the American Red Cross call the summertime “a challenging time” as donations often dwindle during the summer months. Donor Recruitment Manager Karen Sistek said that the Red Cross encourages donations during the summer to help avoid a shortage.
Sistek also described why blood donations are needed during summer.
Two featured donations coming up are the Fabrizio Pirrone Memorial Blood Drive on Friday, July 22 from 1-6:30 p.m. It will be held at the Indiana Fraternal Order of Eagles 1468 located at 420 Philadelphia St.
The other will be held on Monday, Aug. 1 to benefit eight-year-old Charlotte Rosborough, who was diagnosed with a bleeding disorder caused by low levels of clotting protein in the blood. That will be from 1:30-6 p.m. at the Elderton Volunteer Fire Hall.
