At the Indiana County Commissioners Meeting Wednesday morning, the Commissioners approved a Full and Final release agreement concerning a man who was wrongfully convicted in 1982 for the death of Kathy Long.
Indiana County Solicitor Matt Budash said that the civil rights lawsuit was filed by Lewis Fogle a few years after he was released from prison after serving 33 years for Long’s killing. Budash said a remediation session was held in December, and the agreement approved by both sides releases the county and former District Attorney Gregory Olson and his first assistant William Martin from the case in exchange for $250,000.
In other business, the Commissioners approved the sublease agreement with Westmoreland County Community College for the facility that is planned for the ICTC Complex. The County office of Planning and Development Executive Director Byron Stauffer said that the agreement is a significant step towards the campus opening.
The agreement states that the county will receive $8,180 a month or $98,160 a year for the next 25 years, along with the college’s share of utilities and operative costs. The agreement also says that WCCC will pay for furniture and emergency call boxes at the facility. No word yet on when the ribbon will be cut for the facility.
