The Acting Secretary for the State Department of Education paid a visit to the IUP campus today.
As part of his visit, Acting Secretary Eric Hagarty said he was confident in the budget proposal for higher education, which includes a $75 million increase for PASSHE’s budget, and the proposed Nelly Bly Scholarship fund, which has been rejected before.

Hagarty talked about what changed in the scholarship for the latest proposal.
Hagarty also called this budget year “surreal” because of the surplus of money available to the state government.
As part of his visit, Hagarty met with some student athletes and students in the university’s U-SOAR summer research program.
