The state has entered its seventh day of the new fiscal year, and the budget still has not been put in place by the state government.
In an interview on Indiana In The Morning, State Representative Jim Struzzi said that there has been a lot of progress over the last week, and he is confident that a budget will be ready soon, but identifying specific issues behind the budget hold-up is not easy.
Some of the debate is over how to spend a $6.22 billion tax revenue surplus. Struzzi said that the recent upheaval in the nation’s economy is part of the extended budget discussions.
Struzzi said that once the budget passes, he believes the state will be in a much better financial place.
