Even though the Fourth of July holiday driving period ended on Monday, members of the Pennsylvania State Police are continuing to promote safe driving throughout the summer months.
State officials say that troopers are partnering with local law enforcement agencies to crack down on aggressive drivers throughout Pennsylvania, with troopers focusing efforts on heavy trucks, pedestrian safety, red light violations, and tailgating in their enforcement efforts.
With the volume of traffic increasing over the summer months, aggressive and erratic driving is more common, and Troop-A Public Information Officer Trooper Cliff Greenfield says troopers often see higher speeds over the summer, which could lead to more fatal accidents.
Greenfield adds that Indiana County residents have done their part in recent years to keep the roadways safe.
The aggressive driving enforcement campaign runs through August across the state.
