UPDATE AS OF 12:32 p.m.
Penelec reports that 602 total customers are affected from this morning’s power outages. In addition to the areas mentioned in our original story, 32 outages are reported in Cherryhill Township and less than five customers are affected in Clymer Borough and Green Township.
REA reports 10 outages have been restored in the area of Spruce and Picket Lane in White Township, while 18 are still reported. Those are expected to be restored by 1:39 p.m., but that could change.
Three outages were recently reported near Campground Road near Brush Valley. Estimated restoration time is 2:31 p.m.
This morning’s storm brought some power outages to Indiana County.
Penelec reported around 11:30 this morning that 567 total customers were without power with the majority of customers stemming from White Township. Indiana County scanner feeds say those outages were the result of a lightning strike hitting a utility pole near the PA CareerLink center along Indian Springs Road around 11:10 a.m.
Witnesses say the pole took a direct hit and a line was reported down between the Palace Gardens Drive-In theatre and Risinger’s.
Penelec adds that 133 customers in Center Township are without power, as are 11 customers in Indiana Borough. Additionally, less than five customers are without power in West Mahoning Township.
REA reports two outages across the county. The first was reported around 10:44 a.m. along Trim Tree Road in Armstrong Township and REA reports that 34 customers are affected. Meanwhile, 28 customers in the area of Spruce and Picket Lane in White Township.
