Down in the minor leagues, four pitchers for the Altoona Curve combined for a two-hit shutout of the Harrisburg Senators 6-0 on Friday night at PNG field. It’s the second shutout win of the season for Altoona and the first at home for this season. Aaron Shortridge delivered four scoreless innings, allowing no hits and striking out three, followed by a two-innings of hitless relief from Dillon Peters. Duane Underwood, Jr., who is on a rehab assignment, threw one hitless inning with two strikeouts. Tyler Samaneigo got the two inning-save.
On the offensive side, Andres Alvarez hit his 11th homer of the season, a two run shot in the second inning. In the seventh inning, the Curve had five hits and scored four more runs. The six-game series between the Curve and the Senators continues tonight at 6:00. Aaron Shortridge will start for the Curve, and Ronald Herrera will start for Harrisburg.
At the Triple-A level, Yoshi Tsustugo continues his rehab assignment with Indianapolis and hit a two-run homer as the DH, but Indianapolis lost to Nashville 13-4. Also, Kevin Newman was 3-5 with an RBI during the game.
